I have been a client of BBA since the fall of 2009. I was referred to BBA by a Clark County CPA who specializes in Washington State Sales, Use and Business and Occupation taxes, with the statement, “If I win Powerball, the first person I am calling is Barry Butcher.”
As background, I am an ex-CPA, MBA and CMA with a total of 40 years of experience in auditing, consulting, private company management, most recently as partner in a Microsoft value-added-reseller (VAR) of small-to-medium size business accounting software. My wife and I needed tax and business assistance as we personally (that is, independent of my VAR business) were making sizeable returns from hard-money lending against foreclosed residential properties.
I have worked closely with various BBA staff dealing with many matters, including defined benefit and contribution plans (recommended by BBA staff) and their related tax returns and actuarial valuations, as well as personal and Subchapter-S tax returns, and financial ledgers and reports. BBA staff are great to work with. They provide real value, as they have a wealth of information about various taxing and regulatory filing across the local, state and federal levels. I rely on BBA staff for their knowledge and assistance in all manner of interactions with governmental entities. BBA staff provide not only excellent tax preparation, but also tax planning to help their clients minimize taxes, where so desired.
I know that accountants would be challenged at BBA, and would increase their professional knowledge and experience. They would work on not only a varied client base, but also on a wide-range of planning and strategy opportunities to help clients meet their goals. Even though it is a relatively small firm, BBA would be excellent vehicle for personal and professional development, and I recommend the firm highly.
I am writing this letter of recommendation concerning my professional relationship with Barry Butcher & Associates, P.C (BBA). I am currently the President and owner of a Design Center in the Seattle WA area, where we have 60 employees. Previously, I was a senior executive for a large public company (25,000 employees). My financial situation had become fairly complex with stock options in foreign currencies, 401(k) plans, deferred compensation, setting up trust funds, defined benefit plans, profit sharing, etc. It was nearly ten years ago when I first met and retained the services of the BBA team, and our business relationship has continued to deepen and grow over this past decade. I consider this group of professionals as an invaluable and irreplaceable extension of my company.
Starting with our very first meeting, Barry and his team have always been solution oriented and problem solvers. His care and attention for our company is evident to my entire team. Perhaps most importantly, the team at BBA have always handled themselves with the utmost integrity and highest ethics, which is increasingly rare in the business and political arenas.
Lastly, Barry and his team have never let me down in any of their promises or commitments. They consistently under promise and over deliver. I whole-heartedly recommend the entire BBA staff to you.
Barry Butcher and Associates was a godsend. I was referred to them in a bind with a year-end tax deadline looming and an estimated bill that was going to wipe out most of the profits for my young business. I reached out to Barry and he went out of his way to squeeze me in year-end to help me with creative solutions to my tax problems that my accountant couldn’t solve. Ultimately, I ended up owing less than 50% of the estimated liability that my current accountant had provided. This was a huge stress reliever and provided the much-needed capital for my business to continue to grow.
When my business ran into legal trouble. Barry was there to help me navigate the storm and recommended other high-caliber professionals from his deep network of connections that ultimately led me to victory in court. I can’t recommend Barry and his firm highly enough – their professionalism, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond for their clients is second to none.
“The reason I came aboard Barry Butcher & Associates was for the excellent learning opportunity presented, and wow I have not been disappointed! Although a small firm, we take a different spin on the classic CPA firm approach. With each client, we architect cost saving structures and systems that fit the personal needs of the client’s business. This level of expertise presents unique challenges which have profoundly impacted my personal growth. I’m definitely excited to see who I’ll be, and where the firm will be in the years to come!”
“Barry Butcher & Associates, P.C. afforded me the opportunity to take classes while I work in order to round out my accounting education and be able to have the skills to perform the high level tasks we do here. I enjoy the small, close knit staff and am impressed daily by how smart and competent my colleagues are.”
“As a long-time member of the Barry Butcher & Associates, P.C. staff I have been fortunate to watch the BBA ‘family’ grow and change. BBA has a supportive team of professionals, working in a unique accounting and tax firm. BBA embraces new tax savings opportunities for our clients, growing our client’s business and our team, as well.
“Barry Butcher has gone over and above any ‘normal’ boss in his sincere, personal interest in ensuring the employees are provided with all of the tools and the support they need in order to be successful. He is also continuously surprising me with his generosity and desire to actively be looking for ways to express his appreciation for a job well done. This is an excellent environment for anyone looking to continuously be learning and expanding their knowledge and skill set.”
